Panasonic KX-MB2061 Multi-Function Laser Printer and Communication Center Reviews

The Panasonic sounded like it did a lot of the same functions. Especially the sending of document scans to a scan folder or email. It also sends faxes to a computer file or email. This saves having to print out every fax. It can also send verbal messages from it's answering device to the computer as an audio file making it so much easier to store messages. Frankly, it's a lot of machine for the money. NOW THE DOWN SIDE ... you'd better be a IT whiz if you intend to get any of these wonderful features to work. The PDF Instruction Manuel is 156 pages and the instructions bounce you back and forth constantly from one page to another page. All things considered, this is far too complicated for a person with novice or mid-range IT skills. I'm sure the instructions were very sensible to the person who designed the multi-funcion machine. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Panasonic KX-MB2061 Multi-Function Laser Printer and Communication Center (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) Like every multifunction unit I have used in the last 15 years this one feels like it could fall apart with the slightest bump. The lid that opens up to reveal the printer drum is held up by a plastic arm that I'm sure won't stand the test of time. Also, the paper ledge that juts out from the front of the unit is even more flimsy and I'm also certain it will eventually snap off. Further, it makes the actual full depth dimension a beefy 22 inches (because you can't fold that part in). So keep that in mind for tight spaces. Upon installation I had to reseat the drum 3 times because I was getting a "replace drum" message. It finally did accept it. I also did not get the needed USB cord but I'm not sure if that was an oversight or if there is not one included (there is no bill of materials in the documentation). I was lucky to have an appropriate USB cable from my last multifunction printer. The software installation was quick and painless. And yes, this... Panasonic really ought to have included a hard copy manual with the thing. Yes I know, it comes with a PDF set of instructions on a CD Rom, and yes, I know that I can print out a copy if I so desire. But there's something a little more substantial about a paper manual in your lap when you're trying to set this whole thing up and program all the whatnot. Esp. true when you're punching in codes to set date, time, functions, etc. Why they decided to save pennies by not tossing a hard copy manual into the box is a mystery to me. Also...display/readout on the unit hard to read in all but the most brightly lit room. Consequently, I've taken to keeping a small LED flashlight next to it so I can see what it says. A little backlighting on the display - similar to what's on the phone - would save a lot of bother. Plus, if... Read more |
